I offered to carry out a free review of the people development processes for a charity that I had just become a trustee of. I agreed to capture my findings and thoughts in a report for them and to identify recommendations for improvement. Since I was working with a charity, I fully appreciated that they had a limited financial budget and also limited time to implement any recommendations and solutions.
I used the elements of the AWD Development Solutions ‘Our Development Partner’ framework to structure discussions and interviews with members of the senior leadership team. Using the ‘Our Development Partner’ framework made sure that all aspects of their development processes were comprehensively covered. It also ensured that all their activities and my recommendations were linked back to the vision and values of the charity in an integrated way.
I analysed the responses and developed my improvement recommendations.
A report was produced for the Chief Executive of the charity. The report contained practical and pragmatic recommendations to improve how they developed and managed their people. This would therefore, in turn, improve the performance of the charity. The report was structured around the ‘Our Development Partner’ framework to provide a simple, clear, and consistent format which covered all areas of their development processes in a joined up manner.
